- Meadowcroft farm
I'm looking into the history of Meadowcroft Farm, Ugthorpe, I know of several of the previous inhabitants names I wonder if you have any information on them or the building itself. The farm was built prior to 1850 it would appear from maps at that time It may have been known as Matthew Beck farm and was one owned by Denise Newey, Pete Robson, Ben Clarke, Pybus and Bennett. Any information would be very welcome.
- Skinningrove Works - Melchett Centre
I am an employee at British Steel Skinningrove and we are looking for some information on the “Melchett Centre” that was built on the works as a welfare block. We have some old articles and believe this was build Aug / Sept 1976 and then at a later date had a grand opening of some kind. If anyone has any information about this it would be very welcome? Thank you
- Zeppelin attack on the iron works at Skinningrove
I am trying to reach a local history enthusiast who is a contributor to your site. I noticed that Derick Pearson provided a number of images of Loftus. I have also heard him mentioned in relation to an image that I am keen to research. It is a sketch, printed as a postcard, of a Zeppelin attack on the iron works at Skinningrove. On another site I found the same image and mention that Derick had suggested that the artist was S. Grayson. I'm really keen to find out the source of the attribution and any more information about S. Grayson that I can, so wonder if you would mind either passing on Derick's email address or forwarding this email to him please? Any help you can offer would be much appreciated. I have attached a jpeg of the image herewith (although it is already recorded in a couple of places on the internet).

- Mystery Stone in Loftus
Message from Chris Twigg http://www.hidden-teesside.co.uk/2013/12/03/1893-mystery-stone-loftus/ This stone near the base of a wall on North Road bears the date 1893, I have no idea of its origins or if it came from another building. Perhaps there was once a water trough like this other dated stone just near the Market Place.
- Mystery 'Pease Stone'
Message from Chris Twigg I’ve drawn a complete blank on this one, so i’m open to suggestions. The stone looks to have been laid as a dedication stone on what is now a garage. Best I can come up with is “A Pease” followed by an obscured date. http://www.hidden-teesside.co.uk/2014/07/18/mystery-pease-stone-loftus/ Old maps don’t seem to name the building but it pre-dates the nearby school and Police Station. Update 30th July 2014 - possible connrction to Loftus Bible Christian Chapel - see above link
