This photograph was taken circa 1982/3 David Hodgeson, Middlesbrough footballer after officially opening new children's play area poses with Antony Cruickshank, Craig Evans and Neil Calvert members of the East Cleveland Schools team. This photo of the sports day was taken on the track (football field) with Dale Terrace in the background, the boy on the left is John Green and the one on the right is Mervyn Griffiths, it was taken in the late 1950's. Photograph kindly contributed by Susan Griffiths.
The school staff picture, not at all sure when it was taken. Ida and Percy Balls, are the back row centre and left, with Mr Sowerby on the right. On the front row Mr Rickaby is centre with Mrs Todd second from the right, but can't put a name to any of the other three ladys. This was taken in the school hall. Bobby Smith with Lingdale School footballers, Arthur Balls is the fourth from the left and possiblt the boy on the extreme right is Trevor Jones. The picture must have been taken in 1960 or 61 just as Spurs were right at the top of the league and Bobby was also playing for England. Definitely the David Beckham of his day! Betty Baxter, Audrey Welford, Enid Brady, Doreen Smith, and Betty Chisman. All these ladies were dinner ladies at Lingdale School for many many years both at the old school, and also the new school.
