Snowdon Family of Whitby

I've received a message from a couple understaking a house renovation in Whitby and have found an old roof beam showing the signature of SNOWDON dated 1806.

Realising the connection of this family name with East Cleveland this may be of interest to your group.

Does anyone have any info linking this name with Whitby?
